Species validation: human (Homo sapiens)
Cell type: B cell precursor leukemia
Origin: established from a bone marrow specimen of a 63-year-old man with acute undifferentiated leukemia (AUL) at relapse in 1990; cells were described in the literature to carry two Philadelphia chromosomes t(9;22) with a BCR-ABL1 e1-a2 fusion gene; the cell line is a serial sister cell line of NALM-20
 NTCC Cell Culture Data:
Morphology: round cells growing singly and in clusters in suspension;

Medium: 80-90% RPMI 1640 + 10-20% h.i. FBS
Subculture: seed out at ca. 0.5 x 106 cells/ml; maintain at ca. 0.2-2.0 x 106 cells/ml; split saturated culture 1:2 to 1:3 every 2-3 days
Incubation: at 37 °C with 5% CO2
Doubling time: ca. 50 hours
Harvest: maximum densitiy of ca. 3 x 106 cells/ml
Storage: frozen with 70% medium, 20% FBS, 10% DMSO

Cytogenetics: human near-diploid karyotype; 46(44-48)<2n>X, -Y, +8, inv(4)(p14q35), i(8)(q10)x2, t(9;22)(q34;q11); carries t(9;22) effecting BCR-ABL1 rearrangement; resembles published karyotype
