Description描述：This cell line was obtained from lung tissue of a young male Chinese hamster and was originally designated as V cells (Ford and Yerganian, 1958), was renamed V79 by Elkind in 1958, and widely used thereafter. Several different subclones subsequently appeared, such as V79-4 or V79B, and it is therefore of importance to use the true parental lines as controls for different mutants derived from different V79 cell lines. This V79 is the parental cell line for a series of repair deficient mutants, including V-B11 (GM16137), the only representative of complementation group 7 of UV-sensitive rodent cell mutants, V-C4 (GM16138) and V-E5 (GM16139) members of complementation group 8 of x-ray-sensitive rodent cell mutants.
