Origin and Characteristics:
Derived from Burkitt's lymphoma: The EB2 cell line originated from a patient with Burkitt's lymphoma, a type of cancer that affects B lymphocytes (a type of immune cell).
Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) positive: These cells are infected with EBV, a common human virus associated with various diseases, including Burkitt's lymphoma.
Lymphoblastoid: EB2 cells are lymphoblastoid, meaning they resemble immature lymphocytes in appearance.
Distinct from EB1: EB2 is similar to another cell line called EB1, but it has some key differences:
Larger and less uniform cells
Faster growth rate
Tendency to form clumps
More cytoplasm and less rounded nucleus

Applications in Research:
