  1. Conditionally Immortalized: Proliferates at 33°C with interferon-gamma (immortalized phenotype); Differentiates at 39°C without interferon-gamma (non-immortalized phenotype) -9.

  2. Marker Expression: Expresses hair cell-specific genes upon differentiation, including transcription factor Brn3.1 (POU4F3), the α9 acetylcholine receptor subunit, fimbrin, myosin VI, and myosin VIIA -1-3-6.

  3. Applications: Widely used to study hair cell differentiation, gene regulation, electrophysiological properties, and to explore therapeutic methods for auditory hair cell regeneration -1-3-6.
