BioVector® FLK-N3 is a lymphoblastoid cell line derived from sheep (Ovis aries). Its most significant biological characteristic is its role as a highly sensitive host and production cell for Bovine Leukemia Virus (BLV). FLK-N3 cells are persistently infected with BLV and stably release high titers of infectious virus particles into the culture supernatant. It serves as an international standard cellular model for veterinary research, investigating BLV virology, and producing antigens or vaccines related to bovine leukosis.

2. Culture Conditions
Basal Medium: BioVector® DMEM Medium or Eagle's MEM

Incubation: 37 degrees Celsius, 5% CO2, Saturated Humidity
Subculturing: 1:3 to 1:5 ratio; subculture when cells reach 90% confluence

4. Key Usage Notes
Viral Status: This cell line is persistently infected with BLV. While the pathogenicity of BLV to humans is a subject of ongoing research, all procedures must be conducted under Biosafety Level 2 (BSL-2) conditions to prevent environmental release or cross-contamination.
Density Management: Maintaining cells in an active growth phase is critical for maximizing viral yield. Avoid allowing the culture to remain over-confluent for extended periods to preserve cell viability.
Note: For optimal viral replication and protein expression, BioVector® recommends using high-glucose DMEM and validated BioVector® FBS. Regular monitoring for Mycoplasma contamination is essential to ensure experimental reproducibility.
