BioVector® AY-27 is a widely utilized Rat Bladder Transitional Cell Carcinoma (TCC) cell line. It was originally derived from an $N$-butyl-$N$-(4-hydroxybutyl)nitrosamine (BBN)-induced bladder tumor in Fischer 344 (F344) rats. The primary significance of AY-27 lies in its ability to establish orthotopic bladder cancer models, which closely mimic the microenvironment, histological progression, and therapeutic responses of human bladder cancer. It is recognized as a premier model for investigating intravesical therapies, such as BCG immunotherapy, Photodynamic Therapy (PDT), and localized drug delivery systems.

2. Culture Conditions
Basal Medium: BioVector® RPMI 1640.
Serum Supplement: 10% BioVector® Fetal Bovine Serum (FBS).
Incubation: 37°C, 5% $CO_2$.
Subculturing: 1:3 to 1:6 ratio; subculture at 80%-90% confluence.
3. Applications
Orthotopic Tumor Modeling: Cells are instilled intravesically into F344 rats (often following a brief chemical or mechanical pre-conditioning of the bladder wall) to study localized cancer growth.
